The tulip scarfs
Mattie van Bergen originally trained as a product designer and Merel Penning as a fashion designer. Despite their different disciplines, they share a strong fascination with materials, form and craftsmanship. Whilst looking through Mattie’s graduation work together, they discovered the aesthetic power of the patterns in these mementos. Driven by a desire to highlight these patterns and make them accessible to a wider audience, they decided to take them out of their original context and translate them into wearable textiles.
This resulted in a collection of scarves, made from 100% merino wool and produced at KNITWEAR LAB in Almere,

Process
Modern nostalgia with icy, fresh colours combined with neon accents. These colours are reflected not only in fashion, but also in the interiors and wardrobes of Mattie en Meer. With these scarves, we hope to invite people into our world of contrasts between warmth and coolness, past and future. The scarf plays an important role in this. It is not just an accessory, but also provides warmth, comfort and a sense of security. Furthermore, the scarf can be carried and worn in various ways: around the neck, around the hips, in the hair or attached to a bag. This makes it a versatile part of everyday life and of one’s personal style.
